Do you believe in God or something like religious ceremonies?
Last night I followed my uncle to a house of a relative's in Tokai, actually it was the second time I went there. As I know, that relative has invited a monk from Thailand whom they believed he has great power. The first time I went there is for the purpose of fortune-telling, we gave him our birth date, time and day and shifu will tell us about our fate. Maybe because I'm just a young lady, he didn't reveal much on my fate but only tells me about my characters which are not so good but they were quite true. Haha. He told me to go 'bathing' on 13th May night 12am and this is why I were there again last night.
The ceremony is said to wash away the bad things so that good things can come to us. It was like let us die once and live again which means we will have a new life. There were only 8 of us and I believed I was the youngest one. We used a white cloth, a pail of water, flowers, a white candle with our names carved on it, coins and a bunch of bananas. During the ceremony, shifu chanting for us and we have to focus and make wishes. We also were directed to hold the candle and let the melted candle to drop onto the water in pail, shifu can tell whether our wish is good or bad when he see the shape formed by the candle drops. I'm quite sad to say that mine has nothing! haha. He then bathed us outside the house. We had to change the wet clothes outside after that before we can enter the house. Luckily it was late night and the place was dark, haha. The white cloth was thrown away in the end on a dry land. Shifu said we must not throw it into a river or drain or a wet place because it will come back to us. The ceremony ended at almost 3am before we gone home. I was so so tired after reaching home but I still have to go to the Siam Wat to donate the coins which were left in the pail.
I don't know whether I should believe in such thing or I am just superstition like others as well. But I pay my respect to the shifu because he seems to really own some powers. Shifu said after the ceremony, our sins are with him and he has to go to a remote place to make himself clean again so that he can help others when he returns.
Anyway, to achieve success in life, we cannot only rely to god because it is unrealistic. Praying is just a way to ease our minds and hearts and if Buddha really exists, perhaps he can protect and bless us. I may not say myself as a religious person but to me, believe in God is better than not, like I said, to find relieve and nothing more.
